Floor Lookup

Terms of service

Last updated: 3 August 2026

These are the terms for using Floor Lookup. They are deliberately short and in plain English. Where something is not yet decided, this page says so rather than inventing a promise.

The service

Floor Lookup is a read-only stock and item lookup for retail associates: a dashboard where you configure your stores and connect your catalog, and a handset app that answers "have we got this, and where" while a customer is standing there.

It is read-only about your inventory. It never writes back to your POS, never reserves stock, and never changes a price. A basket handoff passes a list to your till; what the till does with it is your system's business, not ours.

Your account

You need an account to use the dashboard. Keep your password to yourself, use two-factor if you can, and tell us promptly if you think someone else is in your account.

You are responsible for the people you add: admins you invite and associates you provision act on your behalf.

Your data is yours

The catalog, stock, staff list and everything else you put into Floor Lookup remains yours. We store it to run the service for you and for nothing else. We do not sell it, we do not share it with other customers, and we do not use it to train models.

Delete your account and it goes, in full, subject only to backups rolling off within 30 days.

Trials and payment

New accounts get a 14-day trial, and the clock starts at your first successful catalog sync — not at signup — so time spent waiting on credentials or an export does not eat it.

After that, a subscription is required to keep using the service. Payment is handled by Stripe; we never see your card. You can cancel any time from the billing page, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part periods, but if something has gone wrong, ask — we would rather fix it than argue about it.

Fair use

Do not use Floor Lookup to break the law, to store data you have no right to store, or to attack the service. Do not resell access to it without talking to us first. Automated access through the documented API is welcome and encouraged; hammering it hard enough to degrade service for others is not.

Availability, honestly

We do not offer a service-level agreement at this stage. The product runs on a small production setup and we are candid about that. What we do promise: the handset app keeps working from its local catalog when the network or our service is unavailable, which is why it was built offline-first. Stock counts will go stale; nothing will go blank.

We will give notice of planned maintenance where we can.

Ending it

You can stop at any time — cancel the subscription, or delete the account outright.

We may suspend an account that is not paid for, and we may suspend or end an account that is being used to break these terms. If we do, we will tell you why.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before a claim. Floor Lookup shows you what your own systems told us; it is a lookup tool, not a system of record, and decisions about stock, price and availability remain yours.

We are not liable for a wrong answer caused by wrong data in your feed — but tell us anyway, because it is often our mapping that is at fault and we will fix it.

Changes

We will update these terms as the product grows. Material changes will be emailed to account admins before they take effect.

The boring but necessary part

The operating entity, registered address and governing law for this service are being finalised. Until they are stated here, these terms are offered in good faith and are not a substitute for a signed contract. If you need a contract for procurement, write to us and we will provide one.
